Boxedge Music is a multidimensional artistic project and a record label founded by Boxedge, an electronic music producer and senior software engineer, and PZ, a visual artist and art historian. The goal of Boxedge Music is to transform Boxedge’s electronic music into a complete artistic experience through two main avenues: Abstract Music, where experimental electronic sounds merge with PZ’s contemporary visual art in a dialogue with philosophical and aesthetic reflection; and Cybernetic Angels, an innovative project that gives voice and visual identity to Boxedge’s music through virtual singers – Lunaria Payne and Serena Void – programmed and animated by the two founders of Boxedge Music. A distinctive element of BXM is its complete rejection of artificial intelligence in its creations, reflecting a deeply human and conscious artistic vision.

Boxedge Music markets its musical and artistic creations through a variety of formats: CDs, vinyl records, streaming platforms, and art prints. Special emphasis is placed on premium releases and limited-edition collectibles, including colored vinyl records and exclusive visual artworks, perfect for music and contemporary art enthusiasts. Each product embodies the brand’s philosophy, blending technological innovation with artistic sensitivity.

Alessandro Bemporad: A Musical Journey Through Technology

I am Alessandro Bemporad, an electronic music producer and senior software engineer from Florence, Italy. I hold a degree in Theoretical Philosophy from the University of Florence. My story is a fascinating interweaving of music and technology, a journey that has brought me back to my artistic roots after a long voyage through the world of computer science.

The Beginnings: The Darkwave Era

In the 1980s, I was a young dark post-punk enthusiast. As the singer, keyboardist, and composer of the Florentine darkwave band “Boxedge,” my life was immersed in music. Artists like The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Gary Numan, The Cult, Killing Joke, and Japan were the soundtrack of my nights, filling my thoughts with their concerts and records.

The Technological Turn

Suddenly, my life took a completely different direction. For many years, I dedicated myself to a career in software engineering, eventually rising to managerial ranks in large IT companies. My second nature – technology – took over, but music never truly abandoned me.

The Return to Origins

A few years ago, I felt the irresistible call of my original passion. I decided to abandon the suit and tie to return to being an electronic music producer and, at the same time, a software engineer – in my mind, a true artist of code. I chose to honor my roots by adopting the name of my old band: “Boxedge”.

The Artistic Evolution

My artistic journey has evolved over time. I’ve produced electronic music singers, created an album of ‘abstract’ music (PZ Space), and worked on soundtracks for dance and contemporary art performances such as “Pulsatilla”, “Salomé”, and “Elements”. It’s surprising to think that some songs, like “The Circle” from the album “Void,” have their origins in the 1980s, when I was the singer myself.

Lunaria Payne and Serena Void: My Cybernetic Angels

In a moment of creative turning point, I decided to focus on my work as a music producer and composer independently. I created a sort of ‘void’ around my musical work, programming a synthetic voice and giving life to a virtual singer: Lunaria Payne. She is not an artificial intelligence, but an artificial singer, a cybernetic angel with gothic and darkwave traits, entirely programmed by me. Lunaria Payne has become a constant presence in my songs, a distinctive feature of my production.

Currently, I’m also working on my second virtual singer, Serena Void, who will be dedicated to the “electro” music sector. This new creation will further expand the expressive possibilities of my musical production, exploring new sonic territories.

Artebinaria: Fusion of Art and Technology
In 2019, I founded Artebinaria, a software company specializing in augmented reality on Apple platforms, which also served as my personal record label. This project perfectly embodied my vision of merging music, art, and technology.

Boxedge Music: A New Era
Starting from 2024, Artebinaria has transformed into Boxedge Music, evolving into a record label and studio for the creation of 3D animations and CGI. This new chapter focuses exclusively on producing Boxedge’s music, featuring my virtual singers Lunaria Payne and Serena Void.

At Boxedge Music, I share my work with Maddalena Grazzini, known artistically as PZ, a visual artist, art curator, and art historian, who oversees the production of all 2D/3D content. This collaboration brings a rich visual dimension to our musical projects, further enhancing the fusion of art and technology.
Conclusion: The Circle Closes

In essence, my work consists of filtering the past through the future. My life, which began with a deep passion for music, went through a long period dedicated to software engineering, and then finally returned to its origins. Today, I leverage my technological skills to enrich and innovate my musical production, finally closing the circle of a personal, artistic, and professional journey. This fusion of music and technology represents the realization of what I’ve always desired: a life where my passions intertwine harmoniously, giving birth to a unique and personal form of art.

Maddalena Grazzini: Art Blossoms Everywhere

I am Maddalena Grazzini, know as PZ. Art is my greatest passion. I graduated cum laude in Art History at the University of Florence.

My career path includes roles ad a Software Analyst, Knowledge Modeler, Visual Designer, Art Curator and Art Director.

Artistic Endeavors and Contributions

My artistic journey has been multifaceted:

  • I have written art publications and created an online course on the Udemy platform dedicated to “Primavera” by Sandro Botticelli.
  • Since 2018, I have been a member of the International Selection Committee of Florence Biennale.
  • From 2019 to 2024, I curated Artebinaria’s augmented reality contemporary art galleries and created the editorial content for Artebinaria’s art history apps.
Current Role and Artistic Vision

From 2024, my role expanded to include creating 3D graphics, animations, and videos for Boxedge Music.

As PZ, I firmly believe in the symbiosis between Art, Music, and Technology. This philosophy drives my approach to visual arts, where I was moving seamlessly between various expressive codes and languages, from traditional painting to cutting-edge digital graphics. My work was extending to designing immersive video-mapping performances and curating Augmented Reality art exhibitions.

The Cybernetic Angels, Lunaria Payne and Serena Void, are virtual singers, designed and programmed by Boxedge as an integral part of his musical creations. Equipped with synthetic female voices and unique visual identities, they represent the result of a deliberate and creative use of technology. They are in no way generated by Artificial Intelligence; on the contrary, they embody a human vision that merges technical innovation with musical storytelling.

Lunaria Payne

Lunaria Payne is a project that reimagines the dark music of the 1980s through an electronic and contemporary lens, blending nostalgia with innovation. With a synthetic voice and an evocative visual identity, Lunaria Payne breathes new life into iconic tracks, creating a bridge between generations.
Her covers capture the essence of the original soundscapes, appealing both to enthusiasts who lived through those years, like Boxedge himself, and to younger generations discovering this musical universe for the first time.
Lunaria Payne embodies the meeting point between past and future, tradition and technological experimentation.

Serena Void

Serena Void is a project that explores the intersection of electronic music—ranging from electro to techno and trance—and the world of science fiction, understood in its literary and visionary dimensions. Through Serena Void, Boxedge shapes soundscapes that evoke interstellar journeys, cybernetic dystopias, and dreams of distant worlds. With a synthetic voice and a futuristic visual identity, Serena Void transports listeners into a universe where technology and imagination converge, representing a musical archetype for those seeking experiences beyond the boundaries of the present.

Through evocative musical compositions and visual works, the duo creates immersive experiences at the intersection of sound, image, and philosophical reflection.

Cryomancer

A sonic journey oscillating between sidereal coldness and an intimate, introspective warmth, Cryomancer unfolds as a work capable of transporting the listener into dreamlike and distant realms. From the arcane power of ice and its echoes to the hypnotic dance of biblical characters and Asimov’s far-flung worlds, each track marks a step where minimalism and intense rhythms interweave to narrate an exploration of self and the unknown. The electronic soundscapes, at times glacial, at others laden with ancestral pulses, outline a path that extends from the cosmic darkness of black holes to oneiric escapes on nocturnal trains and the dawn of an arctic sun.
It all concludes and finally spills over into an electronic, rarefied blues, letting emerge a sense of detachment and wonder in the face of interior and distant universes, enveloped in an austere elegance.

  1. Cryomancer
A silence that shatters into an icy tremor, while rarefied sounds emerge like frost crystals. It’s the breath of an ancient power that freezes emotions and envelops the listener in a white void, where time is suspended and cold reigns supreme.
  2. “Archetype”
In the discipline of minimalist beats, shadows and primordial symbols rise. The echo of a collective unconscious ripples across the sonic surface, guiding us on a vertical journey into the core of mysterious archetypes, where each rhythm becomes a path of ascension.
  3. “Salomè”
A sensual pulse cradles the hypnotic dance of an ancient queen who demands her desire. Electronic sounds surround the fervent breath of a secret passion, while Salomè’s figure hovers, enigmatic and magnetic.
  4. Pulsatilla
A techno-trance rhythm that strips away illusions like withered petals. Fragments of personal memories fracture into flashes of light, while a flower opens and closes in a kaleidoscopic agony: the viewer witnesses the deceptive disappearance of hope.
  5. Solaria
A sonic landscape emerges slowly, as though steeped in a dawn of sidereal vapors. Suddenly, ancestral percussion breaks through, opening bursts of vitality in a solitary world—the same Asimov envisioned in “The Naked Sun”—where humanity faces infinite distances on a planet called Solaria.
  6. Savannah
A piercing electronic embrace, propelled by relentless percussion, stretches over a horizon reminiscent of wild, arid lands. Here, tropical heat flips into a surreal chill, where primordial roots of nature intertwine with a cosmic sense of dread.
  7. The Cave
A cold void fills with deep echoes, slow droplets resounding among stalactites and stalagmites. The cave becomes an inner refuge, where layers of rock resonate with remorse and hope, cradling the soul in a protective silence, sheltered from the outside chaos.
  8. The Black Hole
An electronic vortex pulsing like a cosmic heart, pulling you into a dark, boundless abyss. Dense rhythms evoke a psychedelic energy, while the unrelenting gravity of a black hole devours every sound in a cosmic storm that spares no one.
  9. Last Train
An engine roaring through the night, splintering the silence with merciless flashes of light beyond the window. The techno relentlessly advances, as the last train rushes along tracks of rapid pulses, hurtling through distance and fear.
  10. Violet
A frozen blues unfolds in the air as a polar sun gradually rises through the mist. Also inspired by PZArtist’s work “Viola,” the piece illuminates the horizon with slivers of light, painting a silent dawn in deep purple across a remote world.
